According to several sources I found online, this bride was from Guangzhou, China. To me, this says some of the newly rich Chinese are showing off their wealth through conspicuous consumption. Ridiculous? Sure, but it isn’t any more so many of our customs. BTW, this is news because it is unusual. Dismissing it as just Japan’s “many weird qualities” is remarkably ethnocentric and bigoted, as well as being just plain wrong.

Well, the face that’s easiest to see is the guy in the front right corner holding up the camera, and he doesn’t look remotely Japanese. None of the other faces that are close enough to see do, either.
