Awkward Family Photos

Some pictures just shouldn’t have been taken.

Kinda like some floral headpieces should never have been worn…

And um, whoa. Talk about a fixed gaze. This mother-in-law is totally freaking me out.

I can hardly imagine anything scarier! Oh, except this:

It’s the peacefulness that spooks me. That cheetah is a little too adorable.

This is how safari honeymoons can go horribly awry.

But awkward photos can be taken anywhere, from the jungles of Kenya to the beaches of Hawaii…

Smile Awkwardly for the Camera!

Now there’s a couple of people who needed to get lei’d. Heh. I’m particularly digging the bride’s afro-mullet.

As opposed to this woman’s “messy nest” look.

Wow, do these people want to be standing with each other or what? Gotta love family.

  1. Tim says:

Uh… that’s a cheetah in the second photo, not a leopard.

  2. Marilyn says:

    That’s a cheetah, not a leopard.

  3. killerofthesky says:

Actually, it’s not a leopard, it’s a cheetah, a much more trainable big-cat. Still, i wouldn’t want to get that close to one without some kind of kevlar on.

  4. Bob says:

If the final picture was posed (and not a fleeting moment), I suspect that the older woman may be suffering from some form of mental illness & not understand the situation.

  5. Elarain says:

Somebody PISSED OFF that last mom. Dad is barely holding her back. She’s about to wail on somebody with that pocketbook.

  6. Ryan says:

Um, yeah, that’s a cheetah. Hopefully not indicative of their relationship. But it probably is.

  7. Vic says:

The groom in the last picture looks like Jerome from Flight of the Conchords.

  8. SensenGypsy says:

The last picture here is probably my favourite. I love how the Father of the Bride is holding the Mother back from commiting some heinous violent crime. “It’s not worth is Agnes, just let it go, please just let it go!”

  9. Lear says:

    That’s a cheetah not a leopard.

  10. TerryT says:

Heehee, they’re kinda’ cute ones here, in that humorous sense. You’ll probably get a dozen comments on this, but perhaps the couple braving the wilderness there isn’t too worried is because that’s a cheetah, not a leopard. Still a predatory animal that will bite your face off if you tick it off (makes you wonder if there were shots after that one…), but they don’t have the same aggressive streaks as their other feline cousins. :)

  11. Jenna says:

lol to all of this but fyi the second pic is a cheetah not a leopard. cheetahs have the “tear” marks. leopards don’t.

  12. Athene says:

Sorry- Definantly a cheetah. Leopards are much bigger and cheetahs are the easist wild cats to train and work with. Leopards are mean suckers. Trust me- I trained big cats for years :)

  13. Lupa says:

    Um… That’s a cheetah…

  14. GothKittyn says:

Thanks Jenna, was about to mention that.

  15. Steph says:

Yeah, that’s totally a cheetah. Anyway. What’s up with that mom in the last pic? The bride looks like a terrified sixteen-year-old, too. AND I’m sure that the groom is Zach Levi. I’m sure of it! Though how he got back to the 70′s (I’m guessing?)… no idea.

  16. Tee says:

That mom in the last pic looks totally hammered out of her tree, dad can barely hold her up!

  17. Oweinator says:

I guess I’m too late to point out that’s a cheetah, not a leopard.

  18. Eyeglasses says:

The glasses on that lady are precious!!! Seriously, though, she’s looking at him a little too creepy-like!

  19. Fanboy Wife says:

At least some of the people look happy in their photos.

  20. marge says:

    Hey Everybody!

Today’s secret word is: CHEETAH! You know what to do when someone says the secret word right?

    S C R E A M ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! 1

  21. Maid Of Dishonor says:

Hey, did you guys realize I accidentally wrote that this large cat was a leopard and not a cheetah? Oh wait, you did!

Thanks, all – I was actually aware of this upon reflection but didn’t have a chance to edit it until now. Mistakes happen when you write a post while in the middle of a Jersey Shore marathon.

  22. You’re all wrong, it’s a liger.

And btw Maid of Dishonour – I’ve emailed you 4,000 things that I will do if you add us to your Lovely Links list, the last of which being “sing Chris De Burgh’s Lady In Red in a thin soprano into a voicemail number of your choosing” – what I want to know is HOW CAN YOU RESIST THIS? (answers to iamstaggered AT gmail.com)

  23. Maid Of Dishonor says:

    @www.iamstaggered.com

HA! Sorry, iamstaggered. I don’t control all of the behind-the-scenes stuff on this blog. It’s a collaborative effort, so I do the posting and the writing. But I will say that this blog is part of a larger network and the only sites on the blogroll are also part of that network. So “it’s not you, it’s us.” But we can still be friends!

  24. Lorie says:

Love the afro-mullet look, and what the hell is she wearing???
Plus in the last picture it looks like FIL is saying, “It’s just ONE picture, can’t you stand next to her for ONE picture? Then you never have to talk to her again!”

  25. @maidofdishonour – I’ve lost count of how many blogs have told me it’s not me, it’s them. At some point it has to be me.

No sweat anyway and thanks for letting me know. Any chance you could let me know about advertising on the site? Or what foul and degrading things I might need to do to convince this shadowy network to link to http://www.iamstaggered.com in some way?

By the way, because your writing has made me laugh a lot over the past month or so I’m still willing to sing for you if you’d like. In fact, I insist on it.

  26. Ka'ala O'ahu says:

The couple in Hawai’i make us wonder, once again, if it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?? It’s SOOO obvious they’re tourists! What IS she wearing??? It’s not one of those “You can wear it again!” dresses! Well, maybe to one of those “accidental” shark attacks! She IS dressed to look like a big seal!

  27. Mrs. Antichrist says:

The last pic is totally one of those “oops, I knocked her up” weddings.

  28. Loving Jesus. says:

    LOL totally digging the last pic (: beautiful family moments ;

  29. Sharon says:

Wow! You know for a fact that Mum-in-law on photo’ number 1 hates the bride becasue ‘she can never be good enough for our son!!’ and as for photo’ number 4. You know it’s the ‘happiest day of our life’ when the Father is having to physically hold back the Mother whilst daughetr-in-law carefully picks off the rose’s thorns to defend herself with! And the grooms face has ‘God I wish I hadn’t gotten her pregnant… what a mess’ written all over his face! Ah!…Good times… Good times…! :D

  30. zoointerp says:

no, thats definitely a cheetah. when will somebody change the caption? it’s bugging me. Cheetah’s are smaller, have rounder heads, and have closed spots. Leopards have rosette patterns with “open” spots and squarer jaws.

  31. Behrooz says:

I don’t think anybody has mentioned that it’s a cheetah. Hasn’t anyone noticed?

    Cheetah.

  32. Steph says:

    @Behrooz
    Wrong. It’s a Not.A.Leopard.

    Wait, wrong blog. Sorry.

  33. fail_of_doom says:

Not fair, not fair at all. I want that hair!
