To all the folks calling foul on the crinoline? I am a massive history buff and hoops skirts are called crinoline. One would wear both the hoops and 2-6 pettiecoats over it forming the crinoline cage. If you research crinoline in history books you will see that crinoline was really made of hoops in the 1800′s.

Old-fashioned bloomers are loosely-fitting and ruffled. This appears to be either Spanx, white bicycle shorts, or an old-fashioned girdle.

Anyway, they have lace on them. Spanx aren’t so prettified. Also Spanx rides up like crazy.

As a bride who wore a hooped skirt, I’ll tell you why brides still wear hoops… It’s because if you want a large skirt you can either wear lots and lots and lots of netting (which would make you look like the bridezilla with the mini me buried in net with her classy tiara and coach *shudder*) or you can wear a hooped skirt and a reasonably amount of netting so that you can have a full skirt without looking scary! And the first thing any bride with sense will do in their hooped underskirt is to see how it needs positioning for when you’re sitting etc to make sure you can be a classy, elegant bride not a “Like me pants?!” bride. Just saying!
