Is it the world’s most wasteful dress? Or the world’s most useful dress?
Grandma having a good cry during the ceremony? Toss her a roll. Father-In-Law getting over a cold? No problem! This bride can spare a square. Plus, the whole thing costs about $25 (assuming she went with the double-quilted of course)!
PS: Maybe this picture served as motivation?

Copy & paste this:

No, I can’t spare a square, not even one. It’s my day, and all squares are mine.
o my god i submitted this one!!!
That’s how she rolls.
Yes I know I will get flamed for this but, inconsistent shadows, Photoshopped
@Mr Obvious
Nope. Not shopped. For some stupid reason toilet paper dresses are “in” right now. Supposedly they’re “greener” then real dresses.
@Payntr’s Mom
What about a ply? Can you spare a ply?
It was for a toilet paper ad campaign.

@Mr Obvious
Considering that this photo might be taken in a studio, the inconsistent lighting might be because there would likely be more than just a few bright light sources.
Cool idea, looks nice till you get to the rolls, but not for me. Duct tape dresses are one thing, but toilet paper? Besides, this is a wedding dress we’re talking about! @Mr Obvious , where are the “inconsistent shadows”?
This is a really funny composition! Now, do I make the “don’t squeeze the bride” joke or a joke about unwinding?
Just one small rip….
Can you say the world’s TACKIEST dress?????
We know plenty of grooms who are shitting themselves about getting married and this ensemble would be ideal.
What’s that? Naughty step? Right you are!
@Mr Obvious
I think you are right, but shadows aren’t what I saw. It is easy to mistake a real shadow for a fake one because of the various lights used, curves or bumps where the shadow lands, the translation of a 3D subject to a 2D surface, angles, and apertures (controls just how much the space is compressed as well as what stays in focus). In the end, just shadows aren’t usually enough to go on. The real problem comes from how easily the paper would rip having the rolls hang and drag like that. Either the dress isn’t made of just TP and has some other structural support to keep the rolls up, or it was photoshopped. My guess is that it is a real dress, maybe even made from TP (as Jami pointed out, this retarded idea is a real one), but some or all of the rolls were added later to make it clear what material was used. Either way, I don’t believe this is entirely real, using nothing but toilet paper and adhesives would not likely result in something that defies the laws of physics (These are just guesses, but after 8 years studying and practicing photography and using photoshop all the way, I think they count as educated ones).
@Mr Obvious
Bah, wrote a comment but without cookies enabled it just tossed it.
Anyway, I think you’re right, but not because of shadows. Shadows can be hard to judge because of multiple light sources/reflectors, the translation of a 3D subject to a 2D surface (which changes depending on the aperture), the curves or bumps the shadow may fall on, and the angle used. Shadows are rarely the sole indication of a ‘shopped pic.
What I noticed first is the rolls hanging or dragging; they would rip easily even standing still. I think it’s likely that the point of the image is to clearly convey what material is being used, so I’d bet either the rolls are photoshopped into a picture of a toilet paper dress or the dress itself is a prop with stronger supports and not just paper. If it is totally, 100% real, then the required materials to support the rolls would pretty much kill the point of being green. Might as well just buy a regular dress and donate or sell it.
Ok, it didn’t toss it… it just took 11 minutes to show up… and only after i rewrote all that… the intertubes hate me today.
@Jami
Thrifty win. But it rains on your wedding day…I just hope you have nice underwear on.
what if, at the wedding, several guests have sudden diarrhea (caused from the beans at the bachelor party or something)…and the only TP is her dress? Or what if SHE has gas? There’s a church fart that won’t go unnoticed. Or what if she gets sexually excited, thinking about the honeymoon or whatever? There are just too many reasons why a bride shouldn’t wear TP. And what shoes would she wear? Some kind of origami washcloth? And what’s holding her hair up? A douche? C’mon. The theme for the wedding is a bit crude.
@Nicole
Have you considered taking anti-anxiety medication?
i want it to rain.
I think it’s a neat metaphor for the excessive waste that weddings tend to generate…who the hell needs a freaking solid silver cake-cutter or a hundred-dollar cake topper?
Then again, maybe I’m reading waaaay to much into it
If it was a real thing, that would just be dumb. Sooo many opportunities for the damn thing to rip just walking down the aisle.
If it makes you feel better, I thought the exact same thing. It’s nice to see someone else who sees things beyond their face value
I’ve always personally felt that spending hundreds or thousands on a dress to wear 1 single day was a bit excessive, so this kind of speaks to me.
Of course, I’m not trying to berate anyone that wants to spend that much to look amazing on their big day–it’s just not my thing, that’s all.
Haven’t we all played the toilet paper wedding dress game at a wedding shower? This one wins the prize!

This is an ad for toilet paper…was seeing it all over bus shelter ads in Toronto. It is for “Cashmere” toilet paper, not sure which brand.
I think that the design and creation of the dress would cost just as much as one made from say, raw silk. It’s a gimmick and one that I, personally could not afford. I bought an off the rack designer dress, cost me 3 grand to have made to my size. (small, I think the US size would be 4? but I had a big bust)
I think the dunny paper dress would cost heaps more as it would have to be personally fitted on the day and there would HAVE to be certain “safeguards” just so it wouldn’t rip or melt or such.
Nice idea though. I’d only use Cottonelle 4 ply.
that actually looks artistically pleasing lol
