Style Trend Is a Hair Don't

Some trends should fade into the sunset before they can be labeled a trend. Like Red Fraggle hair:

Funny Wedding Photos - Joseph and the Terrifying Technicolor Wedding Garb

This is how I wore my hair in second grade, folks. Its resurgence wasn’t cool in the 90s raver scene (well, unless you were in it) and it’s still not cool now. Especially if your guests are already suffering from seizures due to your technicolor wedding garb. At least fancy it up a little, like this classy lady:

What statement is this pom-pom updo making? “Ra-Ra-Sis-Boom-Bah!”? Then again, it could be worse. She could have just slapped some horns on her head to get a similar effect:

Funny Wedding Photos - You Chose Wrong

Wow. Somebody hit the “accessories” aisle at Party City! Just when I thought nobody was able to successfully pull off the Pokémon Bride look, I’m proven wrong. Live and learn.

I KNOW THAT LAST GIRL! That’s Pikachu Belle! She gets paid to go to anime and other geeky cons to dress up like Pikachu (mascot-style suit and everything) AND she has a sweet VW Bug painted JUST like Pikachu filled with with hundreds, maybe thousands, of different Pikachu toys and collectibles. I knew she was getting married, and of COURSE, it’s a Pokemon themed wedding.

Obsessive, yes. But she does get paid for it. I think she’s even sponsored by Nintendo. I mean, she’s doing what she loves and can make a living doing it. I can’t say that everyone can claim that. ;3

    • Fuzzman says:

Oh yeah, that’s awesome! Reality Check: Have you ever heard of a trust fund? Do you really think that her plushie fetish is paying her bills? I guarantee you that this squarely falls into the category of Hobby. Sponsored by Nintendo – Sheesh! You should probably put down the game controller and get going on your homework.

      • Kay says:

Um. a tw@t is rude name for what I have. How about “twit” instead?

      • Mell says:

Having worked behind the scenes at Florida cons before I can tell you that PikaBelle DOES receive an appearance fee for her con appearances. I don’t know what her price is, but from what I’ve heard it can be a bit steep, particularly since she’ll sometimes travel out-of-state for big shows.

Here’s a picture of the PikaBug. From the background it looks like it may have been taken at Anime Weekend Atlanta, though it’s hard to tell one convention hall from another.

    • Suna says:

She shows up to a lot of cons in Florida. :D

  2. Vicki says:

Oh, she’s also known as PikaBelleChu. Meh. I’m tired. But she’s pretty awesome in my book.

  3. boaks says:

These pictures give me hope that I, too, will marry someday. And that I CAN afford to be picky.

    • Katie Couric's Nemesis says:

Of COURSE you can afford to be picky. And you SHOULD be picky.

Ann Landers once wrote in one of her colums of advice to those who made super-stupid mistakes: Any girl can get married if she lowers her standards far enough. My addendum is: That goes for guys, too.

  4. Beadou says:

Ooh, I think I know how the conversation went for RainbowBrite up there…
H: “I want to wear my favorite rainbow shirt for the wedding, it’s slimming.”
    W:”But we have to match!”

  5. JanxAngel says:

PikaBelleChu wears that dress to cons too. And the VW I think she won in a contest, but the huge collection of figures is all hers.

  6. Kate says:

The cones on that last one closely resemble the bobbins which my grandma’s quilting thread comes on. Which I used to play with on her shop floor as a kid.

  7. Fanboy Wife says:

I totally need some hair horns now.

  8. Rich says:

Pikachu, I choose… to remain single.

  9. JAmaral says:

Not to be snarky or nuthin’, but doesn’t Rainbow bride look a little, er, mannish?

  10. Tyna says:

    @JAmaral

I agree. I was going to say that I think the rainbow couple is a gay couple, and the “bride” is a drag queen. Good for them!

    • sara says:

hahahhaha i soo agree with you they look like a gaypride couple all they need is their flag xD!!!

      • regina says:

That’s a real woman, and most drag queens won’t get married in costume, because being a drag queen is an escape from real life, not a part of it. If you see a drag queen getting married in drag, then it is probably a joke/media stunt. I don’t get the rainbow in this context, unless they’re both bi and they just wanted to make sure everyone knows they’re part of the gay community and just happen to be getting a straight marriage.

        • regina says:

Actually, I just looked closer and that’s not even a gay rainbow, it’s got an indigo stripe, too. So they’re probably some kind of spirituality that I don’t recognize. Or maybe they just like rainbows, because his rainbow is different from hers…he’s got two purples.

  11. RayRay says:

Technicolor nightmare!!! No more spicy burritos before bed….

  12. LynzCatastrophe says:

Am i the only one who likes the rainbow dress?

    • Sally G says:

No, I like it too, but the formality of one and casualness of the other outfit have me baffled. I do like to see wedding creativity, though; should I ever get married, it wouldn’t be in a white/ivory “princess dress”.

    • linda says:

no you are not the only one who likes the rainbow dress. i like it too

  13. QueenOGreen says:

Now now. Any bride who lets her groom wear flip-flops to the wedding deserves props. The outfit would be worth it just to avoid painful dress shoes.

  14. dumbrunette says:

the second picture rings a bell… warner bro’s thumbelina anyone?

    • Ginger Snap says:

I was JUST thinking that! As soon as I saw the hair, that was the first thing that popped into my head.
Now if the groom happens to be a short, round man with spectacles…

  15. Fuzzman says:

Don’t let the rainbow bowling shirt fool you – Its a Gay Wedding. (WTF: You wore flip-flops, high-water pants, and a bowling shirt to your wedding?)

  16. linda says:

i like the rainbow colors. it shows creativity. besides it was her wedding, not anyone else’s and she can do with it as she pleases. there’s too much political correctness these days. I say let them have fun with it.

  17. Susan says:

I’m gad to see so many people refusing to knuckle under to the snarky comments of the “Wedinator”. These people aren’t hurting anyone, and I’ll bet they would think that whatever the “Wedinator” liked was too stuffy or too boring! For just one example of how tastes differ: the picture of the “Wedinator”? I think that dress looks slutty compared with mine. Now, see how judgmental I sound? Think about it, “Wedinator”!

  18. Jen says:

So now the question is: When is Mudkipchan getting married?

  19. Kay says:

Flip flops may be better than wearing a long prom dress but having to take your shoes off and be barefoot, and holding up the hem, because the shoes hurt too much … to wear. Buy something a person can’t stand to wear???
I think the rainbow dress wearer is female, though the rainbow is a gay pride symbol.

  20. Fynn says:

I think the matching rainbow clothes are cute.

  21. princess? POKEMON?? YES!! says:

    PRINCESS PIKA-BELLE-CHU!!!
gosh that’s old school, i read about her in Nintendo Power years ago. she has like a pikachu Bug car with the tail and everything. when i was nine i that that was way cool heehee

  23. kayak says:

PikaBell’es accessories are from the sporting goods store, not Party City — those are fishing bobbers (the red and white balls).

  24. Larz Blackman says:

    Handlebars for riding her in.

  25. fail_of_doom says:

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Alchemical says:

I thought only attractive cosplayers got paid to go to conventions?

    I’m so confused..
