Anarchy And Matrimony

Anarchy And Matrimony

Submitted by: dunno source via Submit Page

Break out the Scotch Guard - it’s time to shine up those Docs and exchange some vows! Like cherishing each other, sticking to a strict vegan diet, and telling each other when it’s time to say fuck it and start dyeing from the roots.

That’s what love is all about. Today, you’re punk rock. Tomorrow, who knows who you’ll be? You could turn into this couple. You just never know.

PS: It’s the beginning of wedding season! Anybody got any good Wedinator submissions laying around? Send ‘em in!

  1. K says:

This is actually kinda cool. Her dress is awesome!

  2. Traci says:

I love the fact that they are in a beautiful chapel. Look at the elegant walls behind them. You would think they would want to get married in a club or intermission at a concert or something….

    • Albert says:

I would think they wouldn’t marry at all, if they really are anarchists. Isn’t marriage part of the system they fight against?

      • elliebean says:

Yes. Though I’ve found there are a few very good reasons for wanting to get married anyway. As a sacred institution it’s archaic and stupid; as a legal contract, it’s often a useful way to enforce your rights as a couple. It’s too bad all couples can’t take advantage of it – or that they would need to.

      • Lola says:

Derrr not all punks are anarchists. Suprise! These people are awesome and celebratng the combining of their awesomnesses.

What they’re fighting against is morons like you.

      • Amis says:

Of course, Marriage is against all the rules of the anarchists club. I expect they’ll be thrown out at the next meeting of the commitee!

    • Georgia says:

And why would you think that?

    • regina says:

That room, or one very similarly decorated, was featured in another wedding, a few pages away from this one, and someone said it is a courthouse.

  3. lenny says:

…they’ll have a child and name her Minnie Pearl…

  4. Fireflies says:

Actually, that’s pretty freaking awesome ^^

  5. Tier says:

    wicked :D fking A man

  6. MK says:

There’s two people who are trying waaaaaaaay too damn hard.

  7. Colin says:

Insert negative statement about a subculture i personally don’t have any interest in and barely understand, therefore must hate and mock here.

  8. green says:

I am interested in pictures of girls wearing DMs.

  9. MK says:

“I want to be different from everybody else yet I want to be around people that are just like me.”

    • duh says:

You just described pretty much everyone. Congratulations.

    • Blake says:

That’s not how ‘subcultures of rebellion’ think. They begin by stating that they are not misanthropists, but rather that they are opposed to the status quo. They therefore develop a new status quo which suits them and therefore expresses their individuality as individuals apart from the status quo of society.
The whole thing is perfectly logical and self-consistent.
People for some reason like to say that it is inconsistent because the ‘individualists’ are hanging out ‘together’ and ‘being alike.’ But the individualism is not about ‘being different’ but choosing the subculture behaviours which one favours, and thus not bowing to the dominant culture.

  10. KC says:

My wedding was a lot like this, except it was actually in a church and one of my friends wore a priest collar.

  11. VelmaDinkley says:

    D’aww…

  12. Patty says:

As long as they love each other, who cares what they wear?

  13. claud says:

since when are Punks vegans?!? i was going to say “way to stereotype”, but that’s so far from it…

    • generik says:

Hey Claud, ever heard of a band called CRASS? vegans since 1977. How about Vegan Straight Edgers? In my local scene in the late 90′s I’d guestimate that about 75% were vegetarian/vegan, including myself, now vegan for 13 years. Prior to the commodification of punk, animal rights was one of the main issues punks were concerned with. Do some research before you cast opinions on cultures you clearly know nothing about.

      • TXchick says:

I know a million punks and a million vegans. zero of the punks are vegans and zero of the vegans are punks. And most people know nothing about animal rights and the facts about the industry. Do some actual homework instead of listening to PETA asstards and their propaganda.

        • generik says:

I don’t need to do any homework, I am a 34 year old punk who has been vegan for 13 years, I have the word vegan tattooed on my wrist. I don’t follow or support PETA, I don’t Believe it’s any ones right to force their beliefs on others. I have been involved with animal rights groups in the past, I’ve been inside battery farms and seen with my own eyes blatant disregard for humane laws. So please TXchick, don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. Did you consider that maybe few Texan punks are vegan because of the strong meat eating culture in Texas? Trust me, in the Australian punk scene of the late 90′s vegan/vegetarianism was the norm. Here’s a little study for you TXchick, do your homework and get back to me.

  14. Catherine says:

    I kinda really love this

  15. Bill Horn says:

Marriage is a beautiful thing. I say to this couple: “that’s awesome!”

  16. lenny says:

when you’re a part of this subculture, a**holes weed themselves out on sight…case in point, the ridiculous posts about how hard they’re trying, etc… they know what they look like, and they intended to look that way…these two absolutely rock

  17. Jason says:

I used to dress like this and go to punk shows. Then I realized being a loser sucks.

    • generik says:

Hey Jason, you spelled poser wrong. I’m glad you don’t go to punk shows anymore. I’d rather see people who dress ‘normal’ but love the music at gigs than posers dressed how they think they’re supposed to dress.

  18. Triv says:

shouldn’t this be on friends of of iorny

  19. kbim2cool4u says:

…the day the punk got married…and they hated each other right from the start i meen wat the heck

  20. Scarclaw says:

    They look kinda like dinosaurs….

    • dr von steuben b*tchez! says:

LOLz i was so thinking the same thing…zebra dinohsuarz i so want her dress tho…and hair XD

  21. Nyan says:

The bride’s dress is awesome. It’s got that special occasion look while still being strange and unique. The groom just looks like he’s wearing normal clothes, though… he should have stepped it up a notch for the wedding day.

  22. Libby says:

I support anyone getting married in two different tights and Doc Martins. And with mohawks. There’s nothing wrong with two people wanting to get married, no matter what they look like. Awesome pic. :)

I’ve actually gone to a wedding like this one, it was for one of my cousins. I really like the bride’s dress in this one though.

  26. Merr says:

I love this, but they look youuuuuuung.
    Just sayin’

  27. bfda says:

They look great… good luck to ‘em.

  28. kepler says:

It strikes me as a slight contradiction that they are anti-establishment enough to dress punk rock at their wedding, but not enough to question the role of marriage in subjugating women. Great tradition… just saying…

    • Blake says:

Marriage does not HAVE to subjugate women. Therefore they are presumably not following any part of marriage that does so. The marriage contract itself does not specify any inequalities.

  29. Cadavre says:

She’s a wonderful, amazing girl in the Russian Federation.

  30. sevnofnyn says:

I think they are super cute!!! Looks like a British civil wedding – like the place I got married in… I kept giggling at a picture of the Queen with eyes that followed you around the room like those creepy Jesus paintings.

  31. Ryley says:

just because they’re punk doesn’t mean they’re anarchists. don’t judge so quickly, especially when yew don’t know enough about it.

  32. Sarah Elizabeth says:

    That is wayyyyy epic[:

  33. Taia says:

Sheesh. I always thought being punk was about individuality and supporting that in other people. Not silly high school clique bullshit.
