Film Industry Types Don’t Do Wedding Invitations. They Do Wedding Trailers.

Video by: dunno source via Submit Page

Wedding trailers have become super trendy and I kinda love them. Screw the “fairytale” image of yore typically associated with weddings and their princess brides with tiaras and diamonds and lavish bows. Half of all marriages end in divorce anyway, right? Bring on the explosions, cliched trailer-speak (“In a world…”) and witty jokes!

Weddings are supposed to be FUN. What’s fun about a plain white wedding invitation with curly font lettering? Nothing. What’s fun about an action-packed trailer starring the bride and groom as badasses? Everything.

Ugh. Self-indulgent and just a little less tasteful than an invitation with a soft focus photo of the couple.

    • A passing marine biologist says:

Right, because weddings themselves are totally not self-indulgent.

Why not have fun with it?

  2. moonmaedyn says:

OMG–how excellent! I wish I knew these people…I wanna go!

  3. nihil1234 says:

  4. LOLs for Life says:

I’d blow my whole wedding budget on something like this and elope. No one would ever forget this “Save the Date.”

  5. rab3 says:

Yes people who are not married pretending they know what marriage is like.

    • A passing marine biologist says:

Speaking as a married person, that was like a _documentary_ of what marriage is like.

      • phoenix says:

Yes, all we married people frequently jump out of helicopters, we’re all beautiful and can kick ass, and our lives are constantly cutting to more exciting shots to keep up the tension. And yes, the overblown narrator accompanies us the entire relationship.

That’s the tragedy in divorce, really. Not who gets the kids, or the house, but who gets the Official Movie Narrator (TM).

        • Nelson says:

Did you see beautiful people in that trailer? I didn’t. It was very cool, tho.

        • Blake says:

Exactly. I mean apart from the helicopters. But my wife and I are damn hot.
This was definitely among the top ten most awesome things I have seen.

  6. SylverWyrd says:

    that is so fukkin cool

  7. Biff-Pow says:

What a great idea! Assuming that this was a teaser, I wonder if they’ll make a full trailer in 6-7 months?

  8. Nikki says:

Glad you guys enjoyed. We will be celebrating our 4th anniversary this month. Perhaps a re-release? (www.davidmalki.com, www. wondermark.com)

  10. alf514 says:

Almost as nauseating as proposing on a Jumbotron.

  11. Ezrekia says:

    Best. Wedding invite. Ever.

I bet the big day is a real disappointment after a trailer like that though.

  12. Shtevo says:

Damn! I wanna see this movie!

  13. phoenix says:

Was I the only geek going “Hey! That’s the mpaa rating screen! They couldn’t have submitted this to get a rating! Lies lies LIES!” followed by “man, I wouldn’t want to risk mpaa wrath for my cute wedding announcement, they take that shit SERIOUSLY”

  14. Red says:

    That was freeking awsome!

  15. andthen says:

Anyone else notice “Justin Peed” in their credits? LOL. Marginally better than “Justin Pooped”, I suppose!

  18. blue says:

    Eh, it wasn’t that amazing.

  19. zero7068 says:

From the cake, it looks like the wedding itself did live up to the trailer. Loved it.
