I’m Not a Nerd, So I Don’t Know What This Is

Funny Wedding Photos - Im Not a Nerd, So I Dont Know What This Is

Submitted by: dunno source via Submit Page

Anybody want to help me out in the comments and report if these cake toppers have actual names? From what I can tell, they’re non-specific nerdbots (as I call them) from Kid Robot or some such place. They’re rather adorable. But I don’t know what they ARE. Bride and groom robot army enthusiasts? Planet defenders? They’re ‘more’ than your average robot cake toppers, from what I can tell, but hey what do I know? (Answer: nothing.)

  1. Nerd says:

    They look like gundams.

  2. Nerdhusband says:

They are Mobile Suits from MS Gundam, or one of the shows in the Gundam series.

  3. lds says:

The cake-toppers are SD Zaku II from Gundam.

  4. Azzuri says:

I’m not entirely sure, but I think they’re Gundams. God I am such a nerd! >.<

    • K says:

      Otakus are considered nerds?

      • Dan says:

        Otaku are über-nerds.

        • Jabraille says:

Although I entirely agree, I think it’d be more apt to have a Japanese affix to express the nerd level. Unfortunately, I’m just nerdy enough to think of that, but not nerdy enough to know what to use. =P

          • Zero says:

            Obsessed nerds?

          • djkaiba says:

Otaku is the Japanese term for anyone who is extremely obsessed with something (in America it is often linked to anime, but doesn’t have to be) to the point of almost too obsessed. So Otaku is the best word to describe it. now you’re nerdy enough to know what to call people :D

          • BitVyper says:

The term you’re looking for actually IS otaku, and it’s considered deroagatory.

        • arch says:

actually, Otaku means “troublemaker” in japanese. But is the western world Otaku is used to define “nerds”

          • BoB says:

Actually its an incredibly formal way to refer to another person. Japanese Computer/anime etc geeks use such terms to address each other due to extreme social awkwardness. They then started to use the word to refer to themselves as a group. The word has negative connotations due to the often obsessive nature of such people. In the west it usually refers to an anime/manga geek.

            • flo says:

well the real otaku word derived from the polite form of the japanese word for house (O Taku) started for the photography enthusiasts that never leave their house besides to go hunting. then it evolves to people who are overly affectionate to their hobby, whether its gaming, anime, model kits, military, etc and yes in japan it has a very bad connotation. but in the western world anime enthusiasts used it with pride lol n shifts its meaning into nerds and or geeks

              • otaku no nihon says:

you are most correct, honorific form of someone else’s house with a sarcastic connotation that the person is so obsesses with whatever their hobby is they never leave that house

          • Firefly says:

huh no it doesn’t. you’re way off
            it means obsessed fan

        • Aiden says:

          Very true.

      • J says:

        Uberly so

      • tahrey says:

        YES …

was there ever a chance they wouldn’t be?

If you want to be utterly pedantic, they’re anime geeks, but close enough.

      • Doctor I Pooptem says:

        The word otaku means Nerd

    • johnsmith says:

Yes, you are a nerd because you recognize something from one of the most popular anime of all time, something popular enough for Japan to have made a life size 59 foot replica of. It is not trendy to think you are a nerd so eff off.

  5. Curieux says:

    Zaku!

  6. Lucky says:

    IT’S A GUNDAAAAAAM!

  7. cziizi says:

gunDAM – that’s one ugly cake!

  8. nakoangel says:

    OMG awsomeness =^_^=

  9. Asuna says:

Gundam anime robots known as Zaku

  10. shin0bi272 says:

they are super deformed alliance mobile suits. They are the “plucky” bad guy mobile suits that the gundam destroy en masse. The super deformed just means they have tiny bodies and huge heads

  11. tikiguy says:

    ZAKU’S

  12. Heero Yuy says:

@Shinobi272: Actually they are super deformed /Zeon/ mobile suits. The Earth Sphere Alliance used GM-79′s, not Zakus.

Nonetheless, that is an awesome cake :D

    • shin0bi272 says:

oh yeah … sorry its been a while since ive seen the series. Thanks for pointing that out.

      • xXThatoneBunnyXx says:

They are Zakos from Superior Defender Gundam Force or also known as SD Gundam Force, which aired for US in 2003 then in Japan in 2004. They look like the MS-06C Zaku II Early Production Type.

Should I stop there? Or Continue in Showing my Otaku-ness of Gundam?

      • Duo says:

Don’t worry about Heero. He’s a details oriented type of guy. XD

  13. Klangadin says:

Ok, they are actually a pair of SD bride and groom Mobile Suit: Gundam 0083 Zaku II Units.

  14. shermie says:

cartoon network aired a cartoon series featuring squatty versions of gundams like these with the toys to match

  15. digitalmeister says:

    Zaku’s! This is WIN!

  16. Ziggy Currans says:

Actualy, these are Zeon Zakus from SD Gundam, which is arguably the WORST anime of all time. The mobile suits/Gundams were only 4 feet tall in SD Gundam, instead of 60 meters. It was quickly cancelled.

    • Charlie D says:

      Quit gettin’ mad about cartoons.

    • JIM says:

Actually, while the SD Gundam series that aired in the US wasn’t that great, there were a number of manga, series and OVAs based around SD Gundams that was actually quite popular. They’re still seen in various 4-panel gag comics in the more serious manga.

This one is a command-type Zaku II from the original Mobile Suit Gundam (used until about 0083). The kit itself also included attachments to convert it to the high-mobility type used by Johnny Riden.

Yes, I had the kit. Yes, I’m a nerd. Stop laughing. My mom thinks I’m cool…

  17. Rikibeth says:

They look like Fraggle Rock Doozers in mecha suits.

  18. Zaku says:

    Zaku Zaku!

  19. Josh says:

    MS-06 Zaku IIs from Gundam

  20. They aren’t from the SD Gundam series, they’re just SD-style model kits.

  21. styx says:

SD Zaku’s from Mobile Suit Gundam cool cake xD

  22. ben p says:

i know im a little late but all i know is its the antagonist drones from one of the gundam series… LOL nerds unite!

  27. Aalt says:

SD Zaku II. They’re not Gundams, but show called Mobile Suit Gundam. They’ve gone through some repainting.

  28. someone says:

I can see from the previous comments that I was wrong. But to get it out there anyway, to me they looked like the main character in Halo.

  29. Yess says:

LOL. I find that awesome ;D

  30. -B says:

Do you lot not read the posts of the people who have already posted? I mean, I’d have thought to myself “I know that answer, I’ll post it” then get into the comments page and think “someone else has given the answer, no point now” and go have chuckles about something else on wedinator.
also, Dan and anyone who cares: über means above or over. As in physically above. For instance, a lot of chalet villages in the Austrian Alps are named for the town they are above. Über-Lech is above the town of Lech. So saying Otaku is “above nerdy” is nonsensical.

    • Phred says:

You haven’t read much Nietzsche, have you?

    • BoyBlueSky says:

The concept of something being above or beyond (or however else you want to phrase it) a concept very easily matches with the above given definitions for über. Let’s look at some examples. Already cliche by the mid 1800′s, the phrase “Onward and upward” was more relatively recently popularized through C. S. Lewis’ “The Last Battle”, the final book in the Chronicles of Narnia. Buzz LightYear (from “Toy Story”) proclaims his catch phrase “To infinity… and beyond!”, and this also is another instance of going beyond a concept’s traditional limit. I could go on-and-on, but I think I have already gone “above and beyond” the call of duty in responding to your nonsensical post. ^_~

  31. mcborgen says:

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  32. Yarrik says:

Zaku Wedding Cake for the win.

  33. Jim says:

They are not Zaku’s! They are Zakos! (From SD Gundam Force)
    :D

  34. SimsKatie says:

My first instinct is to say “It’s a gundam!” – but then I remember that anyone who says that in the show is seconds away from being instantly vaporized with a beam cannon…

  44. If you have a manufacturing plant, should be extremely careful with your choice of outdoor lighting and reflectors powerful. dim lights outdoors can pose serious problems in a production unit and therefore a good option to choose the LED with the right kind of fixtures. In if you need for your outdoor lighting display with banners and signs, and once plus you can choose to sign with LED bulbs.

  45. Thull says:

so anyone think that they might be gundams? I mean I’m not really sure if anyone mentioned that they might be gundams. I just could not find any comments at all in this that they might be gundams. :)
