Love Through Thick and Thin, Literally

Funny Wedding Photos - Love Through Thick and Thin, Literally

Submitted by: Unknown

I don’t know what to make of this. Is it just me or does the husband look like he’s aged in the second picture, while the wife looks pretty much the same?

How the hell did he lose so much weight? All I can think is he suddenly got really into rock climbing and the sun weathered his face a bit and turned him into a rugged, lean, muscle-machine who only eats energy bars. I think it’s amazing that he dropped what looks to be about 400 inches in his waistband, but damn. He almost looks like a different guy!

This is a wonderful set of pictures. Good on you! I especially like the fact that the bride looks wonderfully happy in BOTH pictures.

    • jesus says:

he looked alot healthier when he was still fat

      • WeirdFish says:

        No, he didn’t.

      • d says:

Sorry, as an ICU nurse, in the first picture all I can see is his bloated pale puffy face and his “I’ll be dead from a heart attack by 30 or I’ll lose at least one leg below the knee to diabetes” body. When someone’s face is rounder it tends to look younger, but not healthier. This guy gave his wife an awesome present-the fact that she won’t spend most of their marriage managing his many health problems or sitting in a hospital waiting room while he has stent placement or waiting to hear if he is alive after a massive MI or stroke.

        • jenna says:

Thank you for saying this! Fat isn’t funny if it shortens your lifespan, or makes you a burden to your family and society. And obesity is nearly 100% preventable. Sadly some folks would rather not take the responsibility on, and dump it on the rest of us.

  2. pokkit says:

Good for him! This is one of the few pictures I’ve seen where you can really tell it’s the same person. Look at his eyes and the brow structure, the ears, the hairline, the chin dimple, smile crease, and the natural curve of his fingers.

He probably looks a little older because faces with more fat look more baby-ish. Looking at the bride, I’d guess it’s been 2-3 years between pictures. Honestly, though, I don’t think he looks very much older. If I had to look at them as different people and guess, they’d be within a few years.

  3. Emmy says:

Excellent job on the weight loss! As to why he looks older…uh, it does take quite a bit of time to lose so much. Plus, fat puffs out all the wrinkles so when you do reach a healthy weight, all that stretched out skin sinks back in, but doesn’t always smooth out. On men it looks “rugged”; we women just look old.

    • suanswan says:

Yes Emmy you are right. I lost 75 pounds but did it when I was young so my face didn’t go through that trauma. I think he looks MUCH better with the rugged face! ;-)

  4. Pammiecakes says:

I agree with Emmy. The fat also stretches your skin and can make you look older when the weight is lost. But again, men always look rugged, woman just get old.

    Congrats on the weightloss!

  5. Teh-Gurl says:

Maybe it IS a different person :0

  6. Mark says:

It looks like she lost a good bit of weight too. It’s not as noticeable since he lost a lot more.

    • Moushka says:

I think the bride did lose weight (You can’t really tell because of the position of the left picture, and her wedding dress.) but she might also have a baby bump? I can’t tell.

    • kg333 says:

I’d agree, you can tell around her arms. Don’t think she has a baby bump, though, I think that’s just the angle she’s leaning forward at.

  7. MissAnthropy says:

I think you have it all wrong: this is the skinny guy she left the fat guy for a few months after the wedding. They’re rubbing the ex’s nose in it by showing how older, (richer?) skinny guy could fit 2.5 of himself into the ex’s jeans. =P

    /Friday hatefulness

Srsly, losing that much weight? Awesome! :)

  8. Rattus says:

As a fifty year old fat woman, I can tell you the one thing that fat is good for – most people put my age at 35 to 40. I’m going to look like the Cryptkeeper should I ever manage to drop the avoirdupois.

    • K says:

It’s okay. The Cryptkeeper was super popular back in the day. He was often surrounded by hunky dudes and hot babes. I say lose the weight and find a way to make the weight work for YOU. Or something.

    • Jewels says:

lol Yep me too, I’m going to be 52 next month and even at the dentists office they had to look at my age twice. ;) the only good thing about being fat. :p

  9. Lisa Simpson says:

Its a guy who lost weight after seeing himself in his wedding photo. He joined a weight loss group (Slimming World) and lost nearly half his body weight in 10 months. You can read about it here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1295887/Weightloss-wonder-Bridegroom-shamed-losing-NINE-STONE-looking-wedding-album.html NO short cuts with this guy, just hard work.

  10. Sophie says:

I’ve never met her fella, but I work next door to Kim and she’s lovely. I knew her and her fella had been exercising lots and trying to lose weight but I had no idea he’d done so well. Did a real double take when I saw her picture on the cheezeburger network!

  11. Big B says:

I totally buy that it’s the same guy. The hairline, nose, and eyebrow ridges are the same. He’s probably not much older in the second picture…. As others have said, fat smooths out facial wrinkles. It also (obviously) obscures bone structure. The guy in the second picture isn’t so much “weathered” as bony. And while losing that much weight is extremely uncommon, it’s not impossible. Props to him!

  12. diane says:

Most people look like they’ve aged after they lose a lot of weight.
I don’t know why, but if you look at before and after pictures, a good bit of the people will look older in the ‘after’ pictures, even if it has only been a few months or couple years.

  13. jrbl03 says:

I love it! I think it’s wonderful that he lost the weight! Good for him! Even more motivation for my own weight loss journey! Way to go Dood! ;)

  14. domerdaver says:

Double win. Together they excel at healthy cooking in both the kitchen and the bedroom.

  15. mrspotts66 says:

i think they both look fantastic! and he looks amazing…he’s lost that “baby” look from his heavier days.

  16. Elle says:

I think he looks great and really good looking! I don’t think he looks old at all, he just doesn’t look 17 anymore! Good for him!!!

I’m a certified personal trainer and weight loss does NOT always result in people looking older- in can in some instances but usually people look their best at a healthy weight. I see people change shape and weight all the time and weight loss looks good on people 98% of the time.

  17. Woody says:

Dude! She must be an attrocious cook! Most guys put on weight when they get hitched…

  18. john says:

I want to stop eating, but i just can’t! maybe i could follow thsi man’s health habbits? Plz someone help, my doctor said i am morbidly obese and i can’t live like this anymore!

    • draco says:

John, you most likely suffer from food addiction. You need to seek a professional dietitian and/or personal trainer. Remember, start slowly and with control, don’t try to give up your addiction all at once or you WILL fail. It all starts with you, and your determination. There is no miracle cure i’m afraid, only hard work and perseverance! It’s the only way to beat any addiction. And remember, it’s all about consistency!

  19. I think the fact that she looks so much younger in the casual photo is because stylists go way too harsh on Wedding Day hair and makeup these days. It ages young women when they have too much makeup and that harsh 1980′s pulled back hair.

  20. NatureGeek24 says:

I read this story in the Mail (U.K.)–you lose 9 stone like he did and your face is going to look a little older without all the fat filler. He did that in less than a year–amazing!

  21. Elyon says:

there can only be one reason for his weight loss… she has to be the worst cook he could possibly marry ^^

  22. pepsibookcat says:

Congrats to him! What a great effort!

  23. Magdalena says:

Maybe it’s just me, but his deep-set eyes make him look like Grandpa Munster in the older photo. Also, I think it is amazing what people can do when they stop whining about how hard it is to be fit and they just go and do it. Good for him!

  24. Katt says:

My fiancé lost 40kg (ca 88lbs) in nine months, simply by not eating chips and candy and stop drinking soda. So hey, nothing’s impossible I guess.

  25. RowanBadger says:

I lost a bunch of weight and it aged my face considerably, but I’ve been taking care of my skin and it’s smoothed out a lot. So long as you keep up with moisturizer and sunscreen, your body can still ‘pull in’ a lot of the excess skin, and since the face is one of the places you lose weight first, it can take a little while for the fat balance to kind of even out a little and soften the lines of the face.

What makes me happy about this picture is that the bride looks equally happy and affectionate at both his weights, but now has a partner statistically likely to live longer and be more active. If she can love him at any size and support him in healthy choices, they’ve already got a lot more going for them than many couples.

  26. Fat Don’t Crack! I’m pretty sure it’s the same guy – same smile, hair, and height. She was skinny to begin with, so of course she looks a lot the same but he looks older.

  28. Daniel says:

It shows the some people are not shallow, that she loved him from the start… though i have to say, he’s a hottie.

I can attest from personal experience that it’s a battle that never ends. I lost 120 lbs when I was in college…. though it was not easy, and i was not the most healthy doing it…. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=46604223&l=d2376abbb9&id=13926947

  29. Diana says:

guy looks alot more handsome when he lost the weight and its nice his wife did the weight loss with him ..beautifull couple yes fatter people look younger but only because children have chubby faces and people associate that with youthfullness really should be associating youthfullness in older people with no wrinkles or saggy skin. my fiance is 35 thin as a tooth pick(lucky he was never obese but he could gain more weight to be in the healthy range) and everyone always asks for his id because he looks like a teenager especially when hes shaved. im 26 and he looks younger then me and i have a chubby face(only because of my puffy cheeks).. im so jealouse of him..lol
