Merbride Wishes She Could Be Part Of Our World

Funny Wedding Photos - Merbride Wishes She Could Be Part Of Our World

Submitted by: dunno source via Submit Page

Is this her “back-up” wedding dress? Anytime I see a professional picture involving water and a ruined dress I have to wonder whose idea it was to take it. I just can’t envision being like, “You know what would be awesome? If I climb over to that slimy rock and lie on my stomach so that my dress train dips into the water and it looks like I have a tail. How amazing would that be?”

Then again I also can’t envision doing this, or  this, or this, and those things all happened. So, I must be wrong.

Any time I see a professional picture involving water and a ruined dress, I presume it’s this:

  2. Sarah says:

If this was the bride’s idea, why is she shooting daggers at the photographer?? If she were really into it she wouldn’t be channeling Ursula.

  3. Jack says:

“Mebride” looks like a wet and p.o.’ed rat.

  4. ninacat says:

Plus, she looks really peeved to be lying there, sopping wet.

  5. kaptain_gonzo says:

Sure, spend $2000 on a dress and then dunk it in water. If you don’t have a spare its going to be ruined – it will not come clean. Or if she does have a spare dress, then someone has waaaaaay to much money. If you’re going to roll in the dirt, just get some jeans and a t-shirt.

  6. Suzie says:

    I actually love this photo…. =)

  7. pjw says:

it’s usually done the day after the wedding ceremony, called trash the dress where a photo shoot is done with the bride and groom in their dressiest, or just one alone, generally doing something that ruins the outfit that you’ll never wear again

  8. sgk says:

i think it would be really pretty if she looked happier
i mean right now its just like “WHY are you makeing me do this im all wet and i dont like it just take the picture already”

  9. tzilla says:

she looks a WEEEEEEEEE bit pissed off

  10. apple says:

I LOVE LOVE the photo, very cool.

Wait…there is an actual “Trash the Dress” **TREND**? As in “I spent several month’s rent on a gown *I’ll* wear once…why not take some “fun” pictures of me ruining it…so-and-so the movie star did it and it was soooooo cooooool!”????

Whatever happened to the sweet “save my dress for my daughter/granddaughter” trend? Like, you know, from the time when getting married meant more than “a day that is *ALL*ABOUT*ME*”?

Heck, if you don’t want to *keep* the dress that you’ll “never wear again”, ebay it, or donate it to a thrift store…there are people out there for whom a beautiful gown to get married in would mean an awful lot, but who don’t have the sort of “disposable income” that these bridezillas apparently do…

  12. red says:

I love theas kind of phots! that are called “Trash the Dress” sessons & people pay extra to do a sexy photo after the wedding. The dress is wet or messed up or even torn up! But this photo just dosen’t work because the bride just isn’t getting into it. I feel bad for the photographer. They had a greate idea but just couldn’t get what they wanted with the girl.

  13. olivebk says:

Are we sure this isn’t just a model wearing the dress for a photoshoot? I can see an editorial photographer wanting a shot like this–and from that standpoint I think it is well done. The woman’s expression is a little to angry for my taste though.

    • tzilla says:

      that is not a model!!!

      • ClariPossum says:

And how would you know, exactly?

Someone posted her other photos above, that is true. But besides that, how would you know she’s not a model? I think she could really be one if she wanted to.

  14. IAmStaggered says:

Perhaps if they were going for the ‘sexy’ angle, they could have chosen a pond to work with that doesn’t automatically render he a swamp creature.

  15. barbara says:

I think she was going for a sultry look but couldn’t get rid of her “the sun is too bright” forehead crinkle.

  16. Jack says:

Because it makes a lot of sense to “trash a dress” you (or your parents) spent $$$ on when it could, instead, be donated to someone less fortunate. Way to go!

    • Ren says:

Why on earth would you want to wear a second-hand wedding dress!? Even if it was your mothers-it’s YOUR wedding! BTW, most parents don’t pay for the dress.

      • elcynic says:

Uh, I know several people that wore second hand dresses. Because they didn’t have any one to help them pay for a ridiculously expensive dress, and because the dresses were beautiful and a quarter of the price. A bit of alteration, sometimes and extra special touch here and there, and they are perfect.

And because once they put them on, they instantly because *their* dresses.

  17. Nilla says:

    Wow she looks angry.

  18. Brit says:

Not all Trash The Dress shoots actually destroy the dress. It’s just having a bride go to an untraditional area to take pictures of their dress that they spent a small fortune on. It’s a photo shoot that focuses on the dress, and it’s normally taken weeks after the wedding so the bride is more comfortable and focused on pictures than she would be on her wedding day. Who really wears their parent’s wedding gown anyway? The odds of me having a daughter who is my size and likes my style are not exactly great. I think it’s a really neat idea, but I love my dress too much, and I’m not jaded enough to do a TTD shoot.

This is definitely not one of the best TTD shoots I’ve seen, that’s for sure.

  19. susu says:

yes it is a trash the dress shot

  20. Anne says:

I considered trashing my dress. My dress fit, and then didn’t, and then it did, and then it didn’t. It made me feel beautiful, and then like a fat cow. Rinse and repeat. It was a rather unhealthy relationship. A month or two before the wedding I found myself fantasizing about wearing it to play paintball and then putting it through a wood chipper.

In the end it looked great, so I didn’t. That, and it sounded like more wedding related planning, and I sooo wasn’t doing any more of that.

  21. Trashy says:

I had a trash-the-dress session and promptly afterwards had it dry-cleaned (looked perfect) and donated it to someone that couldn’t otherwise afford one. Since no one knows anything about this girl’s situation, I’m more than a little annoyed that everyone assumes she spent a year’s salary on it and then proceeded to destroy it/not donate it/kept it to herself. Sheesh, it was hers; she can do what she wants with it.

  22. Caiti says:

They didn’t mean it literally when they said it was a mermaid cut dress!

  23. Solstyx says:

it’s called “trash the dress” after the wedding the photographer takes all kinds of pictures of the bride that helps them get to the goal of not being able to do anything but throw it away. They figure if they’re never gonna wear it again they might as well take some awesome pictures.

  24. Audrey234 says:

I’m not sure why this picture is even on here, it’s actually one of the few decent trash the dress shoots that I’ve seen.

  25. MarjaMariachi says:

I’m a wedding photographer. Though personally I haven’t done a Trash the Dress shoot, it’s becoming more popular where I live. A lot of local photographers use some of the more dramatic photos from those shoots as their ads — you can get a lot of really cool shots. Underwater, standing in waterfalls, stuff like that.

Personally, I wouldn’t want to do it. If I had a cheap knock-off, like a $100 David’s Bridal version (which is still expensive!) then I would, because you can get some beautiful photos. But when dresses cost 2k and up, I’d want to hold onto it, pristine, forever.

  27. Bride2Be says:

I think she is rocking the ‘trash the dress’ thing …. she looks beautiful and what is wrong with channeling your inner mermaid? All you b*tches cutting her up wish you had a figure like hers and a gorgeous dress to boot.

  28. Dragonite says:

And this is a wedding picture…?
