Sheer Awesomeness: The Tortoise and the Wedding Cake

Funny Wedding Photos - My Favorite Fable! The Tortoise and the Wedding Cake!

Submitted by: Unknown

Wow, was that turtle made-to-size? I kind of want to take him home and make him my pet. Not only is he adorable and delicious, but he carries baked goods around on his shell! Could he be any more awesome??

Really, though, this cake rules. The turtle looks so realistic that I can’t tell if he’s made of ceramic or delicious green-colored icing. It kind of reminds me of this cake, which also kicked ass of mammoth proportions. I’d like to personally thank all the bakers out there who make me question whether animals are real or edible. They are as amusing as they are yummy.

    Tortoise and turtle = not the same thing. It’s a tortoise and so far as originality goes, it’s pretty cool.

      People always get turtles and tortoises confused. As a tortoise-owner, I find that annoying. :)
      Thank you Wikipedia:
      “British English normally describes these reptiles as “tortoises” if they live on land. American English tends to use the word “tortoise” for land-dwelling species, including members of Testudinidae, as well as other species such as box tortoises, though use of “turtle” by default is as common. Australian English uses “tortoise” for terrestrial species, including semi-aquatic species that live near ponds and streams. Traditionally a “tortoise” has feet (including webbed feet) while a “turtle” has flippers.” I think our little guy up there has feet. :)

    I’d bet the turtle is ceramic or resin, something like that.

    Great cake, although it would be even better if it was supported by four elephants too.

    This cake has inspired me to ask for a Discworld cake for my birthday. Or wedding. Anything really, I just want one.

    See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
    On his shell he holds the earth.
    His thought is slow but always kind;
    He holds us all within his mind.
    On his back all vows are made;
    He sees the truth but mayn’t aid.
    He loves the land and loves the sea,
    And even loves a child like me.”

    Yeah, nice and all, but if another turtle shows up the cake is history (Turtles are not all that prudish, and will fornicate with anything, even rocks. They do it with other species of turtle too)
    Wish I knew what flavor it is
