So the 30th wedding anniversary shall now be known as the 8-bit Anniversary. I’d much rather receive video game memorabilia than pearls or diamonds anyway.

She picked Contra because she remembered watching her parents play it (specifically Contra 3). It has nothing to do with the release date.
That’s my daughter! Yes, we played Contra, and many other Nintendo games while the kids watched, but Contra3 was our fave. I actually went into labor with her while playing Mario! This was the best anniversary gift!!!
I’ve only met your daughter once (at Dragoncon), but I follow her on Livejournal. She’s so talented!
