Anyone Can Do It

Looking to save money on your ceremony? Just have your gadget-geek friend shoot your wedding on his/her iPhone 4! Which I’m suuuure will look as good taken in their hands as in a professional photographer’s. Because you know, it all boils down to the camera, not artistic ability or anything.

So many comments I could make. Instead, I will take the “high road” and say – many blessings to the happy couple! That’s the really important part of the day.

I just hope this website and the couple got nice payments from the company being shamelessly advertised.
I just wish their competitors were are shameless in their ads, we’d have a lot of fun.

I am sure none of these pics could have been taken by a more appropriate camera, or staged, and then included in this video seamlessly. There is not even a “screen images simulated” as required by real TV ads. The demonstration of inherent superiority of my product is therefore flawless.

Yeah. About 10 seconds in I was wondering if it’s even a real couple. After the credits rolled, I’m still left wondering.

If by “artistic ability” you mean the ability to put a couple into the middle of a wheat field or against a graffiti-filled brick wall and make them look like every other couple who has taken their wedding photos in the last two or three years, then yeah, the iPhone photographer/videographer is clearly lacking.

My guess is they wanted to preserve the intimacy of the day or keep to a certain budget.

My husband and I also opted out of a professional photographer. Given there were only 16 guests at the wedding, and all rather close friends and family, it would have been a bit awkward to throw a professional photographer who was a complete stranger in there, especially given the style of our wedding. Guests took pics, with very mixed results, but the intimacy of the day remained and the memories are certainly still there without needing posed shots of us staring into each others eyes to remind us of the day.

Anyone else notice the two guys in speedos at the :53 mark when the bride and her father are walking down the beach?

It bothers me is how misleading this video is; it demonstrates that the iPhone 4s is high quality enough that you can record and capture an entire wedding as well as a pro….but it is not extremely apparent that all the iPhone footage and photographs in this vid were taken by professional photographers and videographers! On top of that, the couple were clearly being posed and photographed by a professional with actual (non iPhone) photographic equipment, which makes me wonder what the heck is the point of this video in the first place? If it’s just to show that you can take nice pictures with your iPhone at a wedding, well DUH…any iPhone user could tell you that!

Well, the housing accessories were Iphone, but who has that in their pocket on a daily basis. That pretty much kills what they were trying to prove… They also had 3-4 people on set working equipment and using skills that they use professionally. So yeah, not just anyone….
But I guess it was a nice video and the wedding looked like fun!

I got a ton of great photos from my friends – who used their iPhones. About 10-20. The rest they didn’t feel they could give me.
From my photographer, I got 2500 pictures. Hmm. Am I glad that I had someone dedicated to taking pictures with a high quality camera? You bet your ass I am.
Do I also love the candid shots from my friends? Hell yes. I wouldn’t trade those for the world.

This is awesome. I love technology. There are so many possibilities today as compared to even thirty years ago that the mind boggles. :D

Yay to the couple and to the photographers!

interestingly, I have a professional photographer friend who was challenged to do a high fashion shoot on an iphone4 .. did it and claimed it was some of his best work… he used some post production, but he said no more than he would normally do.. he and his stylist were both gobsmacked.

So you’re saying he had a stylist, make-up girl, studio, professional lighting, etc? That only proves the iphone as the weakest link. Take the photos to the editor of a magazine, and they’ll show you in a minute why they can’t use them.

We hired a professional photographer for our wedding and the pictures were awful. We actually like the pictures our guests took better.
