Funeral Director Wedding

Feb. 24, 2011

Funny Wedding Photos - Funeral Director Wedding

If this picture is any indication, this couple sure loves what they do for a living. According to the submitter they were “married in a cemetery, drove in a hearse, their wedding cake had little hearses on it, and they were married by another funeral director!”

Wow. I just wish I knew what ‘little hearses’ taste like. I feel like they would taste like a dusty old coffin.

Lady, You’re Marrying a Leapfrog

Funny Wedding Photos - Lady, You're Marrying a Leapfrog

The jumping craze has carried over to engagement photo shoots, and it’s not pretty. I mean, the groom looks completely hilarious, but this jumping thing has gone completely beyond our control. Beyond the photographer’s control, even. We are all just big, jumping apes around wedding photographers. It’s a sign of devolution, I’m certain of it!

You May Now Kiss the Frog

Feb. 17, 2011

Funny Wedding Photos - Frog Wedding

I never understand why old news comes through the submit page, but this story from 2009 struck me as particularly post-worthy. Because really, I had no idea that frogs could get married. From the LA Times blog:

A severe rain shortage prompted villagers in the Indian state of West Bengal to fall back on an old tradition — the frog wedding. The villagers pooled their money to pay for the wedding of two frogs named Ram and Sita, named for the two primary characters in the Sanskrit epic the Ramayana.

From Reuters:

Following an ancient Hindu belief, the frogs’ heads were smeared with vermilion paint and the pair were held up in the air in a ritual in front of a traditional clay candle.

“We feted about 3,000 villagers and solemnized the marriage with every single ritual,” Shobin Ray, head of a local council in Madhya Baragari village, about 750 km [470 miles] north of state capital Kolkata, told Reuters by phone.

As part of the ceremony, the nearby river was invited to join the celebration and asked for its blessing of the marriage, according to local custom.

I think this should probably come with a “Don’t try this at home” disclaimer. Those frogs look unenthused.

Giant Snow Cone Wedding Cake?!

Feb. 16, 2011

Funny Wedding Photos - Giant Snow Cone Wedding Cake?!

I sure hope this wedding cake comes with delicious flavored sugar syrup toppings. Otherwise, I’m not quite sure I understand it. Don’t tease your guests with a pure white wedding cake and not provide flavored toppings! It’s practically a crime!

Also, is the top stable? The physics of this cake confuse me. I am easily confused.

Happy Valentine’s Day! This Wedding Cake Is 113 Years Old!

Feb. 14, 2011

Funny Wedding Photos - Happy Valentine's Day! This Wedding Is 113 Years Old!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! According to the Daily Mail, this wedding cake is old as – and probably tastes like – crap!

The ornately decorated confection was made in 1898, during Queen Victoria’s reign, and is still in one piece despite a large crack in the icing caused by a Second World War bomb blast.

Once white, it has browned with age. But despite this, the rich fruit cake inside is said to be still moist.

I’ll take the person who said that at their word. No 113-year-old cake for me, thanks! I like eating cake that’s moist because it was made sometime this century.

Bridal Worship

Feb. 13, 2011

Funny Wedding Photos - Bridal Worship

All hail the queen! Shower her with flowers and gifts and sing her praises so that she may decide to reach out and touch you! Sit on the floor at her feet like dogs! You’re so lucky to be in royal presence! If only she would distribute some bread and water for sustenance.
