My Mums schoolfriend married her French Canadian in a very Make do and mend WWII ceremony you can tell its a wedding because someone gave Doris a silver paper horseshoe for luck, they emmigrated to Montreal and had a very happy family.
What a great photo! I was unfamiliar with this tradition, but as submitter Diddleymaz pointed out, it was a Canadian custom for wartime brides to carry silver horseshoes made of paper. You can read more about Canadian War Brides at the Canadian Veteran’s Affairs website.

Two friends of mine just got married. This was how the gentleman proposed to his lady (after making her a special deck for Christmas, first)
This looks like the most complicated proposal in the the world, but maybe that’s because I don’t play Magic The Gathering. However, even with my severely limited knowledge I can tell that The Proposer risked a lot in playing The Ring card. I mean, what if she had sacrificed it? That would mean an eternity of Thom Yorke…
Also, inb4 “tap that” wedding night jokes.

For something that’s supposed to be a symbol of marital commitment, a ring is a surprisingly easy thing to lose! Check out seven tales of lost and found wedding bands conveniently compiled for us here!

Behold, the “marryoke!” Which is a terrible term for a wedding party lip syncing to a song on video. Apparently this trend is an increasingly popular alternative to a traditional wedding video. So much so that The Washington Post has even devoted a whole article to it. What I’m trying to wrap my mind around is why people want to capture the awkward, stiff-dancing people do at karaoke on video and remember it forever. Why?

MOOOOOOooove. You’re in the shot.

Who doesn’t love a proposal supercut? However, I have to take issue with the incredibly insipid acoustic cover of the Jagged Edge song Let’s Get Married that starts at 0:37. Seriously white guys with guitars, you’re not all Jason Mraz. Stop sucking the soul out of other people’s songs.
