Ms Higgins has never tied the knot with a man older than her – and her new fiancé is 32 years her junior.
Despite having eight divorces to her name, including one marriage of just five days, the 56-year-old says her relationship with Mark Sanderson really will be ‘until death us do part’.
The grandmother said: ‘People call me a man-eater and a black widow, which is silly. I’m not a predator, I just like to be happy in life – what’s wrong with that? Most of my family are very supportive of me, although Mark’s family are not happy.’
Ms Higgins, whose longest marriage lasted five years, met 24-year-old shop worker Mr Sanderson on a night out in Newcastle in 2009. They plan to marry next year after he popped the question in September.
Ms Higgins said: ‘This time I know it’s going to last. People might say he is too young but age has got nothing to do with love.’
In the famous words of R. Kelly, age ain’t nuthin’ but a number.
