Getting Into Character

Funny Wedding Photos - Getting Into Character

Submitted by: Unknown

Hey, if I’m gonna post a picture of a groom pretending to kill his bride, you know I’ve got to post the opposite right afterward. This site is all about equality, people! Although, this picture is a little more annoying than the last one, because for some reason pretending to stab your partner is a common wedding photo trend. Why, I have no idea. Evidently it’s a fun thing to do.

McDonald’s Hong Kong Offers Wedding Services, Apple Pie

Oct. 13, 2010

People have been opting to use McDonald’s as their chosen wedding venue for a long time. But never before has the fast food chain upgraded their services and menu to accommodate a fully catered affair. Usually a couple just shows up with all their friends and a couple of cakes from Publix and has at it. But now, McDonald’s weddings — in Hong Kong, at least — will be on a whole new level.

Starting January 1, 2011, Hong Kong will be the first city in the world to roll out McDonald’s nuptial packages. The package will include “a baked apple pie wedding cake, dress made out of party balloons, kiddie party favors for guests, and of course, catering by McDonald’s.” Alcohol will not be permitted, and the doors to McDonald’s will remain open to the public, but for a few thousand bucks (and all that apple pie) it’ll be worth it! Check out the balloon dress options:

Also, starting immediately, McDonald’s Hong Kong will be accepting bookings for engagement parties and wedding anniversary parties. This is the future!

The Return of the Groomsmen Sock Trend

Funny Wedding Photos - The Return of the Groomsmen Sock Trend

Submitted by:

Wilfy

Remember these guys? Well, the sock trend is BACK! And still somewhat confuses me. Is this a tradition a la “something borrowed, something blue”? Stand in support of the groom on his wedding day by wearing thematic socks? If so, I like it. It seems to put all the groomsmen in a terrific mood! Who knew socks could create such joy?

Oregon Couple Marries at 21-Mile Mark of Portland Marathon

Oct. 11, 2010

Justin Green and Jennifer Hill “began the Portland marathon as individuals, but finished united, as one.” When the couple hit the 21-mile mark of the marathon yesterday, family and friends were already waiting for them to take a quick pit stop to exchange vows and rings.

In just nine minutes, the happy (and sweaty, I’m guessing) couple was married in the rain. They then set off to finish the final 5 miles of the marathon together with the bride in a white running outfit with matching veil. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Disney Fairy Tale Weddings is a Real Fashion Line

Oct. 5, 2010

“Alfred Angelo is a collection of seven beautiful gowns designed for the stylish women who have grown up with the Disney princesses.” Hmm. OK. On the one hand, I’m thinking some of these gowns are pretty nice-looking. But on the other, I’m thinking, “For real, though?”

What do you think? Fanciful awesomeness or high-end marketing ploy? I suppose it’s a bit of both.

Couple That Met in ‘Mafia Wars’ Gets Married

Sep. 28, 2010

Finally, a valid reason to play the addictive Mafia Wars game on Facebook: It can lead to true love. At least, that’s what happened with newlyweds John Sweeney and Joanne Doane, whose passion for the game led to tying the knot in Treasure Island, Florida and a free honeymoon courtesy of Zynga.

“Sweeney and Doane, the godfather and godmother of the Mafia Wars True Alliance clan, met playing the game in March 2009. They bonded over mafia clan warfare and spent hours on the phone discussing strategy, before finally meeting and moving in together.”

Remarking on their nontraditional love story, Sweeney said, “Neither one of us were looking for love, love just found us and it was the game, Mafia Wars, that brought us together. And we couldn’t be happier. Thanks Mafia Wars!!!” Aww. So sweet.

Meta Cakes Are the New Black

Funny Wedding Photos - Meta Cakes Are the New Black

Submitted by: Paulina

Apparently everyone wants to eat themselves. Well, OK, not literally, but you know what I mean. Everyone wants to eat miniature sugary replicas of themselves on their wedding day. Or at least, this couple does, and this couple did…and that’s basically everyone, right?

I want one now, that’s for damn sure. They’re so cute! And theoretical! And weird. All excellent terms to describe cake.
